Sir Tim Berners Lee Quotes
World Wide Web
The World Wide Web (WWW) is an information space where documents and other web resources are identified by URLs, interlinked by hypertext links, and can be accessed via the Internet.
Before WWW, there were lots of ftp servers with documents and software, and a service called Archie which indexed them. So if you wanted to download a program, you'd search on archie then download with an ftp client. NNTP (usenet) and mailing lists were used instead of forums.
