Types of Flash Drives according to their functions

There are five categories of flash drives currently available.
These include generic, ultra durable, secure, novelty, and high performance.

1. Generic flash drives

These are the most common type available. These are generally encased in plastic and do not download quickly. For normal use, this type of flash drive is suitable.

2. High performance flash drives

Are also quite common. These types generally have high bin memory chips and better memory controllers, which can increase transfer speeds. If you will be transferring high quantities of data, it may be recommended to use a high performance flash.

3. Ultra-durable external drives

Are usually encased in rubber, which can help prevent damage in case they are dropped. When capped correctly (when not being used), they are also water resistant. These can be helpful for teenagers who are constantly dropping things or leaving things in their pants' pockets, as well as for people who travel extensively and expose their equipment to potentially rough handling.

4. Secure drives provide hardware encryption

These works well for confidential documents. Many doctors and lawyers use these types of flash drives because they can store patient or client information without the risk of it being opened and used by someone unauthorized. Many of these drives require a username and password before being able to view the information, though some use combination locks or biometric fingerprint scanners.

5. Novelty flash drives can come in almost any shape or size.

These sometimes are made to look like characters in popular television shows and movies, or they can be in the shape of animals, sports equipment, or any other fun item. Finding something to fit your unique style is easy with a novelty flash drive, and you'll have fun searching through the various results to find the one that speaks to you.
